AIxBio Symposium

Wednesday 2nd September, Cambridge

Cripps Court, Magdalene College’s site on Chesterton Road/Lane

The Cambridge Biosecurity Hub is hosting a free, one-day symposium on the intersection of AI and biosecurity, following the success of our first event in March. The day runs 9:30am–5pm, with lunch provided and a networking drinks reception afterwards.

There'll be talks from experts on their latest work, posters from the ERA AIxBio fellows, and extended networking sessions. We want people at every stage of an AIxBio career in the room, from those just starting to engage with these problems to senior figures in the field — a good opportunity to learn and find collaborators.

Register your interest here by Tuesday 18th August. Places are limited; we'll confirm by Thursday 20th August.

Please contact grace@cambiohub.org if you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQ.

Speakers include researchers from SecureBio, with more to be announced.

FAQs:

Is there an agenda, and when will speakers be announced?

The agenda and full speaker list will be released as confirmed (ASAP). Some speakers will not be included if they’ve asked not to be listed publicly.

Can I submit a poster?

Only ERA AIxBio fellows will be having posters at this symposium.

What if I can't make it after all?

Submitting an expression of interest doesn't commit you to attending. If your application is accepted, you'll get final details and a confirmation step. If your plans change after that, just email us as soon as you can so we can offer your place to someone on the waitlist.

Is there an online option if I can’t join in person?

No, due to the nature of topics discussed at the conference we won’t be sharing any content online, either live or recorded.

What kind of background do I need to apply?

We’re looking for people actively working on, or aiming to work on, things that fall in the intersection of AI and biosecurity. That ranges from people just beginning to explore the field to established researchers already working in it.

How do I flag dietary or access requirements?

Dietary and access requirements are requested on the form. Let us know and we’ll make sure the day works for you.

Is there parking at the venue?

Unfortunately there is no parking for guests.

London Biosecurity Hub 〰️

Potential London Biosecurity Hub - we need your input!

We're exploring interest in the creation of a London-based biosecurity hub, and scoping how it could best serve the biosecurity community.

The London Biosecurity Hub will be modelled on the success of the Cambridge Biosecurity Hub (CBH), which strengthens and grows biosecurity work in Cambridge. CBH serves the biosecurity community by organising events, promoting discussion, and building collaborations. CBH is based out of the Meridian offices in Cambridge, making co-working possible. In London, the hub would start off with events in ad hoc locations, before finding a more permanent office space and home.

Please let us know how this hub could be most useful to you!

The survey will close on August 24th - find the link below
